If you see a considerable increase in the online traffic to your Internet site and in case after you look at the visitor stats it turns out that it comes from locations across the globe or from other web servers, your website is probably being attacked by an automatic bot. Such programs go through random sites seeking to log in to their administration area by using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments underneath every article where this type of an option is offered. However, that's something relatively popular lately, but if you know the IP addresses from which the attacks come, you'll be able to block them, so the bots will not be able to access your website in any way. Needless to say, you may block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with us and you want to block one or a few IP addresses, you can use the IP Blocking tool, which is included in our in-house built Hepsia CP. Using a really simple interface, you'll be able to restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to perform that is to log in to your CP, to navigate to the IP Blocking section, to select a certain domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to enter the IP address. You shall not need to do anything complex if you'd like to block a whole network - you'll just need to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs will be listed within the same exact section, so you shall be able to remove any of them from the blacklist with simply a click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our semi-dedicated server accounts include a rather simple-to-use IP blocking tool, which will allow you to prohibit individual IPs or even entire networks from accessing your websites with onlya couple of clicks and you will not have any troubles to achieve that even if this is your first hosting account. Once you go to the IP Blocking section of the Hepsia Control Panel, you'll only need to choose the domain or subdomain you want from a drop-down list, then type in the IP address within a box that you will see there and you will be all set. To limit the access for an entire network, you need to leave one or more octets blank. For example, if you enter 123.123. and don't type anything in the third and fourth positions, our web server will deny requests from all IP addresses between 123.123.1.1 and 123.123.255.255.
